Melting Pot

When you go around New York, you cannot help but notice the variety of people moving around.
From all walks of life, people have converged in the BIG APPLE to look for opprotunities to better their life.
Just like what Forrest Gump said, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you'll never know what you're gonna get". Well, in New York, life is like a gumball machine, you mix them up and if you are upto it, you'll become part of it.

Then and Now
I recently visited New York City. My last long visit was as a naive teenager in 1985.
I soon realized that not a lot has changed since my last visit. Present still is the pulsating beat of the non-stop action that is always present in new York. The only thing we miss is the skyline provided by the presence of the twin towers World Trade Center.
As we walked up and down Fifth Avenue by day and Times Square by night....as we rode the subway at Grand Central Station and took a trip to Battery Park to say hi to the Lady, the Statue of Liberty....I could still feel the energy I felt as a teenager 20 years ago.
We went to watch The Lion King on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theater. I was quite amazed at the changes in the facades of the buildings in the area. A lot of effort has been made to create the Broadway-effect in all the buildings including the McDonald's outlet which looks like a theater !

Down Memory Lane
A few days ago, I met up with some of my high school classmates. We have been planning for our 20th year alumni homecoming. Not surprisingly, we have gotten mixed responses and various feedback about the event.
Some have been very generous with their time and have been quite active in the planning and contacting our batchmates.
Some have shown tremendous enthusiasm and immediately bought our event tickets when they were contacted.
There were others who were a bit unreceptive and lukewarm about the whole idea.
While there were those who completely refused to attend.
My thinking is that...it has been 2o years since we have graduated from our high school alma mater. We should celebrate that we have successfully traversed the journey of life through all these years. Some maybe more successful than others. But it is the happiness that we generate out of life that is important.
Some of my friends are very keen on having the opportunity to meet up once again.
While others have let their old miseries crop up and occupy their mindsets.
I know deep in the heart of some, the fear of being judged is prevalent but we should live life with an open mind. An open mind will lead us to greater destinies.
Let bygones be bygones....Come one come all...Whatever will be will be....
Fat or thin... beautiful or not...Rich or poor... I don't care for it is the beauty of the mind and soul that counts !
Ciao !

Of Dreams and Promises
Twenty years ago, when I graduated from high school, I aspired to become a doctor.
Being the eldest grandchild, I was supposed to follow in the footsteps of some of my aunties and uncles. I was expected to become a doctor like them.
The idea of becoming one was neat but the thought of having to go through medical school was not entirely appealing.
After graduating with a BS Biology degree, I finally decided that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I decided to help out in our family business inorder to gain experience.
Since then I have gone through a lot of different business processes.
These has given me wonderful insights into the corporate and retail business environment.

Christmas is fast approaching
The year is half gone. Normally, once July comes around the corner. We realize that with the blink of an eye, after 2 months has passed, the 'ber" months will come passing by.
September...October...November...December !
When I was a child, I used to eagerly and excitedly wait for December to arrive ! The mere mention of Christmas would bring brightness into my eyes.
Now I see the same eagerness in my children's eyes.
It doesn't mean that I am not excited about Christmas anymore. I guess it just means that where I was the recepient of gifts and surprises before...now, I have to be the one to provide the gifts and surprises for my kids and friends and family alike.
I guess that's the difference between adults and kids.
But it doesn't really have to be like that.
Don't they say that love is not love unless you share it. Joy is not joy unless you give it. It is in the giving that we experience the joy that is life !

New Beginnings, Happy Moments
We are always happy if we have something new. A new dress...A new pair of shoes...A new book to read....Moving into a new house...the list is endless....
For me, the opening of my new store has been quite an exhilirating and exciting experience !
From the birth of the concept to the planning and execution of the design, to the store opening.
It has been a month from the day we opened our doors. Since then, we have gotten a number of positive feedback about our new concept store.
It is located at Banilad Town Center, a new stripmall located at the uptown Banilad area, Cebu City. The mall itself is composed primarily of new brandname stores. The people traffic had been slow in the beginning but now , with more and more new openings, it has improved a lot.
Friends and customers alike have told us that they like the cozy, homey feel of our interiors and appreciate the unique product mix that we offer. We have been told that our new store provide a warm and happy experience whenever they drop by for a visit.
Well, this has made me realize that indeed this new beginning has provided us with countless happy moments to come !

Love can move mountains. But where art thou love when one wants to be found ?
There are a lot of ways to express love. It can be done through a smile...a pat....a kiss or a warm hug. Words can be expressed or deeds can be done to show someone how much you love them.
I have been told of a lot of instances wherein a person is in search of love and have found love because of the healing power of the love stone, ROSE QUARTZ. One of my colleagues at work has discovered her lifelong partner right after she started wearing a rose quartz bracelet.
ROSE QUATRZ - Attunes to energy of unconditional love and heals the heart. Calms and reassures. It brings about deep inner healing. Releases blockages from unexpressed emotions, opens heart chakra, soothes wounded heart and internalized pain. Helps those who have never received love to access heart. Aids positive affirmations for self-trust and self-worth. Teaches how to love oneself, encouraging self-forgiveness and acceptance. Aids physical heart and circulatory system. Said to increase fertility. Soothes burns and blistering.
